Friendship—The story deals with the similarities and differences of others. This activity focused on celebrating those similarities and differences in our classmates. After reading the story students had to search the class for students with similarities and differences such as someone with the same hair color; who has a different number of siblings, who shares the same birth month, who enjoys the same hobbies, who has the same shoe size, whose favorite subject is the same, or choose your own ideas.
Venn Diagrams—Find another student you don't know much about. Compare likes, dislikes, and talents on the Venn Diagram.
Writing: Pretend you're one of the characters and write or tell of your feelings about the other person. You might comment on two parts of the story: when you first met your friend, and later at the end of the story. How did you and your friendship change?
